Present Making!

Hello there!

Hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas! I had such a lovely week spending time with family and friends, eating yummy food, drinking Gingerbread Lattes, watching films, eating yummy food, opening presents and...........eating yummy food! Yes, I am feeling a little plumper than usual (but in a good way)! ;)

I decided this year that I would love to make Christmas presents for friends (look above for some of the little Thingamajigs I made). I am pleased to inform you that moo cow has already been named Chloe! :) 

I would love to make these to sell in my shop but to be able to sell them at an affordable price I will have to keep practicing until I'm a lot speedier with my sewing needle and sewing machine! Hope you like them!

Hello! I was really excited when I woke up this morning as not only is it Christmas Eve but it was time to see who the winner is of my print! Firstly thank you all so much for your lovely comments I wish I could give everyone a print :) but unfortunately there can only be one one winner. I let Peter pick a name out of the bowl as he was just as excited as me! So the winner is........................ Jacqueline!! Congratulations Jacqueline- I've just sent you an email to let you know. I really hope you enjoy your new print!

"The End of a Perfect Day" Giveaway!

I'm celebrating today as I finally had the time to get my first art print up for sale in my DaWanda shop!!!

I've had a few lovely comments from people saying how much they like my banner, so I decided to create an art print from it.

In my imagination this print is of a little brown rabbit who is thinking about all the lovely memories he has of many wonderful days playing with his friends in the glorious summer sunshine!

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!

So finally I'm starting to feel Christmassy! :-) It's taken a while this year because I've been sooooo busy most of December, I've not had a chance to even think about Christmas.

But this week I finally finished making some presents, I've written all my cards, Phil and I finally got round to putting the Christmas tree up and last night I sat on the couch all cosy under a blanket with cup of coffee and watched some Christmassy T.V.  JOY!

Little Martha

Let me introduce you to Martha!

I sent her as a present for a friend who was serving in Iraq at the time and needed to be cheered up. Martha's favourite food is yellow jelly- so she arrived in her little gift box complete with some yellow jelly and packets of Rowntress Jelly Tots to share with Pam.  She is the first Thingamajig to travel overseas and was very excited about it as, as you already know Thingamajigs love to explore!

I make Thingamajigs!!

I'd like you to meet Petunia!

She was one of the first Thingamajigs I made (and as a consequence I couldn't bring myself to sell her!).

Thingamajigs like to explore and have a particular love for plants and flowers. They are born into this world for a wonderful reason- to bring friendship, happiness, smiles and laughter. They are created through someone’s imagination, but not very easily............................... you have to wish for one! If you are lucky enough to bring a Thingamajig to life you will have a friend forever as they are such loyal and happy creatures and the best thing is if you try really hard you can wish them up for your friends too!

I make Thingamajigs as commissions so if you would like to wish one to life for a friend or even for yourself send me a message. Or visit my DaWanda shop where little Peter is hoping to find a good home. Each Thingamajig comes with a his or her name card with the story above, the date they were born, their favourite game and favourite food.

Etsy vs DaWanda

Hello there!

This morning I woke up and thought I really should start researching into whether I should open an Etsy shop or a DaWanda shop- something I am really excited about! For anyone who has not heard of Etsy or DaWanda they are fantastic sites where you can buy and sell handmade goods.

I managed to find a few articles on this topic and so far it would appear that it's worth doing both, but that obviously means doubling your workload and if you want people to start finding you, you'll have to list new items in both shops everyday. So this is a tricky one. I think I would rather put all my efforts into one shop- but there are pros and cons to both sites.

So I'm undecided - perhaps I should try out both sites and see just how time consuming it will be?

If anyone has any advice on this I would love to hear from you.

Meet My Bunnies!!

Introducing my two little houserabbits- George (the grey fluffy one) and Millie!

I ADORE rabbits and everything to do with them! But before you start to worry- no my house isn't over run by bunny ornaments and other rabbit paraphernalia....................................yet. Just kidding ;-)

One thing I do get asked a lot though is how come they live in the house. Basically before I adopted my rabbits I did some research and visited a few rabbit rescues and found out that houserabbits display more natural behavior patterns than hutch-kept rabbits and are as easy to train as cats and dogs. Plus I personally would much rather they lived in the house so that I can spend as much time with them as possible. Paper, paper and more paper!

Who'd have thought that picking paper would be soooooo hard and time consuming!

For a while now I've been on the search for a light cream textured board for one of my card ranges. I did find one that was perfect but unfortunately when I received my batch through the post the texture had been exaggerated and it just didn't work with my designs. Then I found another perfect board but it only comes in two weights- one's too thick and the other's too thin! I've probably tried about 20 different papers by now- maybe I'm being too picky? The problem is I think the card you use can make or break a design so I really don't want to settle for something I feel isn't quite right- so the search is on again! :-(

On a much more positive note, the agency I work for- Cinnamon Joe Studio just sent me the fantastic news that one of my designs just sold (see above). So I'm all smiles again! :-)
