The new Print & Pattern Geometric Book!

Happy New Year to you all! I do hope you had a lovely holiday & that so far 2015 has brought you joy :)

It was looking ropey for me personally but I'm pleased to say things have turned out as best as they could have & 2015 has actually started off amazingly well. I have some very exciting news to share. I'm thrilled to say that my work was chosen to be part of the new Print & Pattern book. It's titled Print & Pattern Geometric & I'm honoured to be able to show my work alongside extremely talented designers that I have admired for many years. Yay! I get to tick something off my bucket list!

This is part of mine directly above!

Surtex 2014

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend? We went & visited the local woods to see the bluebells in full bloom. It was the most beautiful sight to see, I honestly could have stayed there for hours & I'm sure going back before they've all gone.

Work-wise I've been getting ready for Surtex 2014. Trying to get as many designs done as possible for the agency I work with Cinnamon Joe. You can see my flyer & all the amazing artists that Cinnamon Joe represents here on Print & Pattern.

Here are some more sneak peeks at the some of the designs I've created, do come & say hi to us in booth 312!

P.S I'm having a big shop update soon- this week I hope, if you want to be the first to snap up what's available do sign up for my newsletter here

No sleep, snippets & an art fair

Hello. How's you?

It's been a rather hard week for me in the fact that I've had little sleep due to my daughter having a nasty cough & cold- which I have now caught as well. She hasn't wanted to eat either, so she's hungry & very tired- not a good combination : ( As you can imagine, this has resulted in me not getting any work done at all. I think today we are out of the woods as she's back to her normal self, so fingers crossed we'll all get some sleep tonight.

I did however get to visit the Affordable Art Fair in London last night which was very inspiring & such a treat for me. It's still on if you want to visit. My favourite artists of the night were Becky Blair, Eithne Roberts & Charlie O'Sullivan. Here's a beautiful piece I spied for any bunny lovers out there.

I have been working on a few projects & here are some snippets below.

Trying to do more Geometric style designs in bright colours

Sketching initial ideas onto my computer. LOVE this bunny!!!

Adding paint & texture

I just cannot stop drawing foxes! Perhaps the fox is one of my totem animals- I must look it up!

Have a great weekend everyone & in case you didn't see it, please do read my latest interview with artist Mique Moriuchi, trust me, she is amazing!

Love & light

Spring And Summer Memories

Today I've been reminded that time is flying by and soon it will be Autumn. I REALLY don't want summer to end! I feel so much better in myself when it's warm & sunny- I think I must have been a reptile in a previous life because during the winter months all I want to do is curl up & hibernate (not sure my 3 year old would approve of that). Here's a sweet project I did a while ago that's helping to keep me in a summery mood!

Folk Pattern

Hello all, is the sun shining where you are? We are finally seeing some sun here in the UK & it's making me feel soooo much better in everyway.

Things have been very busy over the last couple of weeks- the usual- deadlines, being a Mummy, keeping (or trying to keep) house work under control! My little rabbit George had to be taken to the vet in the fear he had Snuffles (sounds cute but its deadly :( ), thankfully our vet doesn't think he has it but it was still an added strain that's still worrying me a bit. Piggy (affectionately known as, you'll hear why in a mo.) George's new girlfriend whom we adopted from a rescue center, is settling in very well. She's on a diet- let me tell you- I have never seen such a huge double chin on a bunny before! Her previous owners apparently fed her digestive biscuits & cooled down tea would you believe! She's already lost a lot of weight & can now clean herself properly again & run around & enjoy herself without getting out of breath in the first few minutes. Good news!

Here's a little pic of them having a cuddle. Awe! Sigh...........

And here's a snippet of a wrap I designed last year, I'm in love with the colours on this and it just made me my heart sing when I was designing it.

I've been a busy bee with various projects not to mention that Valentine's Day is fast approaching so orders for cards & prints are coming in. Want to see them? Click here for my NOTHS shop. In the meantime I will leave you with some cupcakes I am working on today. Cupcakes always make me happy and a little hungry.......

P.S Back soon with some paintings I've finally got round to adding to my Etsy & NOTHS shops. Follow the links to take a peek if you'd like :)

Folk Pattern

Here's a design that I've been meaning to show for a while & now seems like a good time as I think it looks quite festive. It looked scrummy in lots of different colourways & I couldn't decide which one I liked best so I left it to the client to pick.

So who's sorted with their Christmas pressie buying? I've been really organised this year & started early as Christmas shopping with a toddler is just a recipe for disaster! But now I need to wrap it all & I'm struggling to summon up the energy- perhaps if I have a coffee & a piece cake first that will help............hmmmmmmm

I've got a new design to show you today. Not sure why but my favourite thing about this design is the little shoe! :)

Summer Fun!

More summer fun today :) This design was bought to be used as gift wrap aimed especially for young children. This is me right back in my comfort zone- as apposed to being way outside it with the last piece I showed you!

It's extremely hot and muggy here at the moment so I'm not enjoying sitting in my little studio- I'm thinking I need to get some sort of fan. Don't get me wrong I am a real sun worshipper, but it's now so hot and heavy outside I've been wishing for a thunderstorm just to cool everything down. Is it just me or do you also love the smell of hot concrete just after it's rained?

Dragonflies

Hi all! This design was a challenge for me to say the least! It is sooooo different from my normal style. Part of me likes it, part of me is not convinced!

Hope everyone has had a good week? I'm really looking forward to having a quiet, relaxing weekend- hope you all have a good one too!

Pattern Making 2

I've been away far too long haven't I. I've missed my blog and reading all your comments :( Not surprisingly there's been lots going on around here- orders to complete and some very challenging deadlines after which I felt like I needed to re-charge my batteries so I've made sure I've relaxed over the weekends.

Here's a few things that have happened over the last few weeks:

We went to Whitstable for a lovely day out.

I've had to rescue not one, not two but three birds that fell down our chimney and into our wood burning stove! (thank goodness its summer!)

We've had constant sunshine over the last couple of weeks. Yes! It actually feels like summer here in the UK! So I've been trying to make the most of it and gone out for lots of walks and had a few BBQs.

Watched a film that didn't impress :(

Watched a film I LOVED :)

Made some more Thingamajigs. Hopefully I'll be able to show you them soon.

Celebrated my brothers 30th Birthday.

And watched some elephants paint (on YouTube)- amazing!

Hope everyone's having a good week? Thought I'd leave you today with some more of my pattern making, I always like to experiment with different colourways- in fact I can get a bit obsessed with it, but don't worry I've narrowed it down to two versions of each to show you! Hope you like.

Pattern Making

Pattern making has played a huge part in my career so far so I thought I'd share these with you today. Once I got the hang of how to create a design in repeat! (a must for the textile and gift wrap industry) I found the process a very relaxing and therapeutic thing to do :)

Hope everyones having a good weekend!
