There is a voice that doesn't use words. Listen. First Art Journalling of 2015

I'm taking an e-course with Mindy Lacefield at the mo. & this piece is the first design I have painted on week one of her class. I haven't painted a bunny for so long I was getting withdrawal symptoms!

This was a little warm up watercolour session also on Mindy's e-course.

And I'll leave you with a quote that is inspiring me this week.

Working away....

Scribbly doggies!

Close up of an abstract painting

Why hello there! So I will be posting my next artist interview on Friday all being well. My daughter & I caught some sort of bug which lost me 4 days last week of work/creative time :(
But here are some snippets of latest projects, the top one was a little card I made for my daughters 4th Birthday :)

It's been very sunny & warm the last few weeks here in the UK, so I'm trying to soak up as much sunshine as I can before the colder weather sets in. Hope it's sunny where you are too!

Back from holiday & back to work

Well. We got back from a fantastic holiday a couple of weeks ago but then everything got put on hold due to various illnesses. You name it, between myself & my daughter we had it- ear infection, sickness, temperature, colds! Not pleasant. But thankfully we are all well again & I'm finally back to work.

So this is what I've been up to. I went to a Stella & Dot party my friend hosted a few days ago & she asked me if I also wanted to have a stall there. I jumped at the chance & I'm happy to say that the evening was a success. Below is one of the framed prints I was selling. I still have one left, so if you are interested do send me an email. And can I just say that if you haven't heard of Stella & Dot, do check out their website, they have such lovely things, I had to treat myself!

I know I'm biased but doesn't this bunny look super cute framed?

I've also been working on new designs & had to get a bunny in there ;)

Here's a little snippet of a new mixed media painting I'm working on.

New surface pattern in the making

And George has a new friend! Husky the plush dog :)

I'm hoping to be back by the end of the week with another artist interview so stay tuned!

A new bunny with no name

Hello all, well I knew I couldn't go my whole holiday & not paint something! With my limited supplies & a bit of imagination I came up with this bunny. Not sure what to call him/her yet, my friends have suggested these: Waldo, Nanouk or Aleska

Which do you prefer?

We are having such a lovely time away, I'll leave you with a few photos I've taken whilst on our trip.

It's hard not to relax with sunsets like these :)

Surtex 2014

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend? We went & visited the local woods to see the bluebells in full bloom. It was the most beautiful sight to see, I honestly could have stayed there for hours & I'm sure going back before they've all gone.

Work-wise I've been getting ready for Surtex 2014. Trying to get as many designs done as possible for the agency I work with Cinnamon Joe. You can see my flyer & all the amazing artists that Cinnamon Joe represents here on Print & Pattern.

Here are some more sneak peeks at the some of the designs I've created, do come & say hi to us in booth 312!

P.S I'm having a big shop update soon- this week I hope, if you want to be the first to snap up what's available do sign up for my newsletter here

29 ways to stay creative

I recently found this wonderful poster by Edhall & I've been looking back on it this week as I try to create a schedule that works for me, to try & create more balance in my life instead of feeling like I'm constantly on a hamster wheel! This of course is a tricky one & I think I'm on version 4 of that schedule already! Any tips would be much appreciated!

I've been working on a few projects & I've also been dedicating more time to just sketching. I normally draw straight onto the computer with my Wacom tablet but it's been so great to get back to where it all started for me & draw again- I know! With a pencil & everything! Hee hee. It's so weird to think how long its been since I picked up a pencil & just sketched. I even found my old tin of pencils from uni. they must be nearly 20 years old now but I knew I'd want them again someday : -)

Here are some peeks into what I've been up to.

P.S In case you missed it, do click here for my latest interview with artist Becky Blair who also offers some great advice for all creatives.

Doodling away on what turned out to be a surprised lion

Cute monster sketches! I think this will definitely be turned into a design of some sort

No sleep, snippets & an art fair

Hello. How's you?

It's been a rather hard week for me in the fact that I've had little sleep due to my daughter having a nasty cough & cold- which I have now caught as well. She hasn't wanted to eat either, so she's hungry & very tired- not a good combination : ( As you can imagine, this has resulted in me not getting any work done at all. I think today we are out of the woods as she's back to her normal self, so fingers crossed we'll all get some sleep tonight.

I did however get to visit the Affordable Art Fair in London last night which was very inspiring & such a treat for me. It's still on if you want to visit. My favourite artists of the night were Becky Blair, Eithne Roberts & Charlie O'Sullivan. Here's a beautiful piece I spied for any bunny lovers out there.

I have been working on a few projects & here are some snippets below.

Trying to do more Geometric style designs in bright colours

Sketching initial ideas onto my computer. LOVE this bunny!!!

Adding paint & texture

I just cannot stop drawing foxes! Perhaps the fox is one of my totem animals- I must look it up!

Have a great weekend everyone & in case you didn't see it, please do read my latest interview with artist Mique Moriuchi, trust me, she is amazing!
