I'm Teaching on Festive Soul Food 2015!

Hello all, I have an exciting announcement today! I am absolutely thrilled to say that I'm one of the Sous-Chefs teaching on Festive Soul Food 2015. Whoop! Whoop! Thank you so much to Mystele, Jeanette & Heather for having me.

Along with 9 other Sous-Chefs & the three Head Chefs above I will be teaching an art class online. It will be so exciting to learn from & watch a variety of artists at work- I always find it fascinating to see another artist's processes don't you? All the information you will need to sign up is here or paste this in your browser and head to the Festive Soul Food page:

http://communitythrive.com/festive-soul-food

Registration opens August 1st!

In celebration, I'm holding a giveaway here at my blog for one free spot on Festive Soul Food. To enter just share this post with your friends on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc & leave me a comment below to say where you shared it. Giveaway ends on Sunday 12th July at midnight but enter now just in case you forget : -)

To kick things off, here's a little interview I recorded about me & my journey as an artist. The three Head Chefs gave me these questions to answer:

What are some of the things that nourish your soul - where do your ideas come from?
What is one piece of advice you’d like to share with other artists?
What drives your sense of validation or legitimacy as an artist?
What are some elements that make your work “yours” - what are some recurring themes in your work?
Which creative medium would you love to pursue but haven’t yet?

This is the first interview I've ever recorded of myself (eeeeeeeekkkk!), so if I seem a little nervous that's why!! Hope you like it & that you will join us on this festive art journey.

The new Print & Pattern Geometric Book!

Happy New Year to you all! I do hope you had a lovely holiday & that so far 2015 has brought you joy :)

It was looking ropey for me personally but I'm pleased to say things have turned out as best as they could have & 2015 has actually started off amazingly well. I have some very exciting news to share. I'm thrilled to say that my work was chosen to be part of the new Print & Pattern book. It's titled Print & Pattern Geometric & I'm honoured to be able to show my work alongside extremely talented designers that I have admired for many years. Yay! I get to tick something off my bucket list!

This is part of mine directly above!

Well Hello 2014!

Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful break & that it was relaxing & joyful.

This year is going to be a year of discovery for me. At first I was a little bit scared to take the plunge but now I just feel ridiculously excited- a feeling I always take as a knowledgeable wink that I'm on the right path. I hope you will join me on my new creative journey. I will share more soon.

Last year was a year of reflection (yep took me a whole year to summon up enough courage to change things for this year). It was a great year though with many achievements & without those experiences I would not have grown as an artist & forged a new path for this year.

Goodbye 2013, we had fun & I am so very grateful for.....

The teachings of Eckhart Tolle.

Finding out that my work will be published in 2014!

Travelling to France & Portugal for glorious days in the sun.

Seeing my designs on wooden toys & furniture in well known shops.

The meditations of Deepak Chopra (how did I not realise sooner how much I missed meditating!)

That one of my Christmas card designs was actually number 1 on page 1 of the Christmas card section on Not On The High Street! Eeek!

For my VERY supportive family, without whom none of this would be possible.

Treating myself to new art supplies & art courses.

Finally realising the missing link I've been searching for with my work.

Meeting some truly inspiring & lovely artists online. Mindy, Juliette, Danielle, Mickey, Sarah & Mati.

Letting go & creating work that makes me feel happy.

Achieving record sales this year.

For my little bunny George. Here he is having a snooze :)

For my beautiful niece Rose.

Watching my little girl growing up & all it means to be a mother. Cuddles on the couch, crying on the couch, conversations, milestones reached, re-learning the art of patience (I always thought I was a patient person- but now I've learnt it on a whole new level- she is my teacher), letting her bring out the inner child in me, jumping in puddles, playing hide & seek & catch me if you can, sitting around campfires, singing together, being creative together, blowing kisses & catching them, dancing, laughing & holding hands.......

It's been a wonderful year & I wish you all a new year of joy, abundance, peace, health & happiness.

I'll be back very soon sneak peek of what I've been up to so far in 2014 & to share more about my year of discovery.

Love & light Emma

Our Wedding Day

I'm now a Mrs as some of you already know! And I did promise to show at least one pic of me in a wedding dress so here we go.....
Phil & I really wanted the atmosphere to feel like an English tea party (vintage in style) & I'd like to think we pulled it off, it was a fun, happy & very relaxed affair. Our venue was a beautiful old Tudor farmhouse set in the most pretty gardens complete with free range ducks, peacocks, chickens, goats & pigs :) The day went too fast though- I wish I could do it all again in slow motion!!!

Evie

I have something very exciting to share with you. It's absolutely HUGE in fact, the most amazing and wonderful thing to have ever happened to me. Those of you who read my blog regularly will know that normally my reason for not blogging is down to my work, but for my recent absence I now have a much better excuse! On Sunday 25th July at 2.15 in the morning I became a Mummy!!! Our little daughter Evie was born, weighing a very healthy 9lbs 3! Needless to say the last six weeks have been an absolute whirlwind, Phil and I have been knee deep in nappies, muslins and babygrows! It's taken a while but we are finally getting into more of a routine. We are definitely learning what Evie's little squeaks and different cries mean and getting out of the house no longer takes up half a day! Evie's a very alert little bubba and so is especially keen to do anything other than sleep, therefore finding the time to make a cup of tea let alone write a post has proven to be rather a challenge! Everyday it amazes me how she seems to change a little- I can't believe how quickly she is growing and in the past week she has started to smile which I find so joyous it makes all the sleep deprivation pale into insignificance :)
Workwise I will be having a break so Evie and I can spend as much time with each other as possible. I will still be blogging though but if there is a longer gap in between posts you'll know why ;) Got to go now and wake the little munchkin up for her tea but I'll leave you with a picture! :) Bye bye for now xx
